The truth about content that flops

The You Factor Edit:

Because the algorithm can't replicate what only YOU can bring

The truth about content that flops

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE KIND OF CONTENT YOU FEEL ASHAMED OF:

The stuff that “flops.”

You know the ones…

  • With 5 likes.

  • Low Reach.

HERE’S THE TRUTH:

It might be making you more money than you realize. It just might be the very reason why someone (or multiple people) hired YOU.

Here's why we still create content that doesn't always “perform” at first glance & why you should too:

1. JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE DOESN’T ENGAGE DOESN’T MEAN THEY DIDN’T SEE IT.

A “quiet” post might be one of the 7+ touchpoints (learn more about the marketing rule of 7 here) someone needs before they ever take action.

2. POSTS THAT FLOP STILL GIVE FEEDBACK.

They give you data…and data gives you…direction. They help shape the content that does perform (according to vanity metrics) later on.

3. CONVERSIONS DON’T ALWAYS HAPPEN ON SOCIAL MEDIA…BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN THEY DIDN’T HAPPEN BECAUSE OF SOCIAL MEDIA.

Sometimes someone sees your post…and heads straight to your website. Or emails you. Or fills out your contact form. Or signs up for your offer directly on your website landing page. Instagram won't track that—but it still counts.

4. IF YOU FAIL ENOUGH, YOU’LL EVENTUALLY WIN.

Every quiet post is a rep that builds mastery and momentum.

5. NOT ALL CONTENT IS DESIGNED TO GO VIRAL—SOME ARE DESIGNED TO BUILD TRUST.

For example, a client testimonial might not perform as well as a fun, trending Reel—but it can seal the deal for someone who's been on the fence.

6. AND FINALLY: PEOPLE ARE WATCHING YOU, EVEN IF THEY NEVER HIT “LIKE”.

They'll often be the ones to eventually slide into your DMs saying, “I've been following for a while—and I'm ready to work together.”

HERE’S THE BOTTOM LINE: NOT EVERY POST “PERFORMS” AS FAR AS VANITY METRICS GO.

But when you have a strategy behind what you're posting?

Every piece of content multiplies.

THAT’S WHAT WE CREATE FOR OUR CLIENTS:

Strategic content. Intentional messaging. A long-term game plan that builds brand trust and drives conversions—even when the algorithm is quiet.
