AI is flooding Instagram & TikTok. This is how you stand out:
The YOU Factor Edit:
THE ALGORITHM CAN’T REPLICATE WHAT ONLY YOU CAN BRING
AI-generated content is becoming harder and harder to spot.
Scrolling on Instagram or TikTok these days, I'm seeing AI-generated video after AI-generated video. Videos of dogs dancing like humans, people falling through ceilings, and everything in between.
Sometimes I can't even tell a video is AI till I see people calling it out in the comments…
Take this video for example. Creepy in my opinion…
And just last week, the Instagram CEO, Adam Mosseri came out and shared that AI-generated content is getting so good and being posted at such a fast rate that they can't even keep up with scanning the platforms and tagging the content as AI. This is his post that I'm referencing.
So where does your power lie in all of this as a business owner using social media to grow? How do you stand out in a sea of AI?
Creating AUTHENTIC content using your real voice, your real face, your real thoughts. There's nothing wrong with working with AI, in fact if you don't, you will be left behind…this is a tech revolution like we've never seen before, and it's moving FAST.
In 2026, people are going to consume content carefully, questioning if every video is real or AI.
So how can you make sure people know your videos were filmed and created by you?
Micro-expressions: AI can mimic faces, but it still struggles with: tiny eyebrow raises, half-smiles, eye movements when you're thinking, and subtle pauses before answering. Speak naturally like a thought leader, and without a script if possible.
Think out loud (and don't edit it out): Real people pause mid-sentence, correct themselves, and change direction as they speak. Those “imperfections” build trust in today's digital world. Over-polished, perfectly-paced videos feel very “AI” now.
Reference specific lived experiences: AI speaks in specific patterns that real humans don't naturally replicate. Instead of saying: “Many entrepreneurs struggle with burnout…” you should say something along the lines of: “Last Tuesday, my client was sitting in the car after school pickup, answering DMs when she realized she hadn't eaten all day.” Specific real-life stories/moments = authenticity.
Your voice has emotional range: AI tends to sound even, emotionally flat or overly enthusiastic. Real humans shift their tone, have natural moments of excitement, and exude conviction.
You respond to current conversations/situations in real time: When you: answer questions from your DMs, reply to comments on a previous video with a video, or reference something that happened that day…your content will feel more organic. AI content usually feels timeless in a bad way.
Your tone, voice, and presence stays consistent across platforms and delivery methods: Your Instagram Stories, Reels, Lives, emails, TikTok videos, and captions should all sound like the same person. Human brands feel familiar and predictable everywhere they're present.
You don't try to “sound like a content creator”: The biggest tell of AI content? It sounds like content. It's curated. It's wordy. It's almost too polished. Human content should feel like you're on FaceTime with a friend - It should sounds like a conversation.
If you're a yearly “word” person, I encourage you to make your marketing word of the year “authenticity".
